Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver academic modules either online and/or in person, as assigned
  • Prepare and share teaching materials in line with institutional requirements
  • Administer assessments and give timely feedback
  • Provide academic guidance to students when needed
  • Participate in academic quality assurance and curriculum support

Minimum Requirements

  • A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (PhD preferred for advanced levels)
  • Experience in university-level or tertiary teaching
  • Digital competence for online teaching (LMS platforms, Microsoft Teams, among others)
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
  • Residents or nationals of EAC countries or those internationals with possibilities to work remotely

Remuneration

  • Payment is made per student enrolled per course/module
  • Exact rates vary by level and subject, but are competitive and clearly outlined per assignment
  • No fixed salary applies under this model
  • Lecturers are compensated as independent academic contractors

Progression to Permanent Status

Outstanding lecturers may, over time, be:

  • Offered long-term or permanent appointments
  • Prioritised for larger course assignments and program coordination roles
  • Included in academic boards, research teams, and institutional development projects

Performance, student feedback, and institutional needs will guide this transition.
