Key Responsibilities
- Deliver academic modules either online and/or in person, as assigned
- Prepare and share teaching materials in line with institutional requirements
- Administer assessments and give timely feedback
- Provide academic guidance to students when needed
- Participate in academic quality assurance and curriculum support
Minimum Requirements
- A Master’s degree or higher in a relevant field (PhD preferred for advanced levels)
- Experience in university-level or tertiary teaching
- Digital competence for online teaching (LMS platforms, Microsoft Teams, among others)
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills
- Residents or nationals of EAC countries or those internationals with possibilities to work remotely
Remuneration
- Payment is made per student enrolled per course/module
- Exact rates vary by level and subject, but are competitive and clearly outlined per assignment
- No fixed salary applies under this model
- Lecturers are compensated as independent academic contractors
Progression to Permanent Status
Outstanding lecturers may, over time, be:
- Offered long-term or permanent appointments
- Prioritised for larger course assignments and program coordination roles
- Included in academic boards, research teams, and institutional development projects
Performance, student feedback, and institutional needs will guide this transition.
