1. Philosophy
At HANAVE University, admission is guided by the principle of inclusivity, academic merit, and career readiness, aligning with the institute’s mission to provide education with heart and purpose. We welcome learners from diverse academic, professional, and socio-economic backgrounds to our career-oriented and interdisciplinary programmes in Business, Economics, Management, Technology, Education, Agriculture and Veterinary, Health, Sciences, Engineering, and others.
2. General Admission Requirements
2.1 Diploma Programs
- Minimum Academic Qualification: Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) and at least one principal pass in the Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE), or equivalent if from EAC or elsewhere.
- Alternative Entry: Mature entry for applicants aged 25 years and above with relevant work experience and evidence of literacy and numeracy.
- Duration: 1 years full-time / 2 years part-time / modular online option.
- Focus: Career and technical skills development for entry-level positions.
2.2 Undergraduate Degree Programs
- Minimum Academic Qualification: At least two principal passes at UACE or equivalent qualifications recognized by the Uganda National Council for Higher Education (NCHE), or equivalent if from EAC or elsewhere.
- Diploma Entry: Holders of relevant diplomas from recognized institutions may apply for lateral entry into Year 2.
- Duration: 3–4 years full-time / modular online or part-time options.
- Focus: Broad-based professional education with specializations in applied fields.
2.3 Postgraduate Diploma Programs
- Minimum Academic Qualification: A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant field.
- Professional Entry: Applicants with significant work experience in related sectors may be admitted upon passing an entrance assessment.
- Duration: 1 year full-time / up to 2 years part-time or online.
- Focus: Bridging theoretical knowledge with practical application and upskilling.
2.4 Master’s Degree Programs (MBA, MSc, MEd, etc.)
- Minimum Academic Qualification: Second Class (Lower Division) undergraduate degree or higher from a recognized university.
- Work Experience: At least 2 years of professional experience is recommended for MBA and executive-focused courses.
- Alternative Entry: Postgraduate diploma holders with relevant background may be admitted into Master’s programmes.
- Duration: 1 to 2 years full-time / 3 years part-time or online.
- Focus: Advanced leadership, research skills, and strategic decision-making.
3. Admission Modes
- Face-to-Face (On-Campus): For students able to attend regular sessions at HANAVE IBMT campuses.
- Online/Distance Learning: Flexible learning mode using HANAVE eCampus for working professionals, remote learners, and international students.
- Blended Learning: For programs requiring both online theory and on-campus practical components (e.g., in health sciences, education, and agriculture).
4. Language Proficiency
- All courses are taught in English. Applicants whose prior education was not in English may be required to demonstrate English proficiency through a recognized test or in-house assessment.
5. Special Admissions
- International Students: Must meet equivalent qualifications as per NCHE guidelines. Visa and accommodation support will be provided where applicable.
- Special Needs Students: Reasonable accommodations and tailored support services are available to ensure inclusive learning.
- Credit Transfer and Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL): HANAVE recognizes prior certified and experiential learning as part of its flexible learning pathways.
6. Application Process
- Online and paper-based applications are accepted.
- Required documents: academic certificates and transcripts, ID/passport, application fee receipt, CV (for postgraduate applicants), and motivation letter (for Master’s and PGD).
- Interviews may be conducted for selected applicants, especially for postgraduate and mature-entry candidates.

- Availability of space in the selected program
8. Admission Decision
- Offers of admission are made on a rolling basis and are valid for one academic year.
- Conditional admission may be granted where documentation is pending.
